Why are old customers frequently switching orders? Whats wrong with aluminum alloy equipment manufacturers?

In the field of thermally broken aluminum window and door processing, existing customers are the core asset for equipment manufacturers to build long-term competitiveness. These customers should form a stable group of repeat buyers and referrals based on trust. However, many manufacturers are caught in the predicament of frequent order switching by existing customers—these partners who once cooperated deeply have turned to competing equipment. Behind this phenomenon is not simply customers' "fickleness," but rather structural shortcomings in various aspects of the original manufacturers' operations.

Firstly, the lagging product iteration and supply capacity are the core contributing factors. Currently, thermally broken aluminum processing is upgrading towards high precision, intelligence, and efficiency: for example, intelligent CNC equipment can achieve stable output with a corner alignment accuracy of ±0.1mm, significantly reducing window and door leakage and deformation rates; the working efficiency of integrated automatic cutting and cleaning equipment is three times that of traditional semi-automatic equipment. However, some manufacturers' products are still at the technological level of 5-10 years ago, and there are even cases of "modifying old models as new products." Insufficient equipment precision and high failure rates directly lead to a high defect rate of windows and doors processed by existing customers, resulting in lost final orders. Meanwhile, many manufacturers face production capacity gaps during peak seasons. When existing customers urgently need to purchase additional equipment, the original manufacturers are unable to deliver on time due to order delays and insufficient production capacity. Meanwhile, competing manufacturers can promise "delivery within 15 days." In order not to disrupt their production schedule, existing customers have no choice but to switch to other manufacturers.

Secondly, the "sales-heavy, operations-light" service system accelerates the loss of existing customers. In the pre-sales stage, existing customers often have personalized needs: for example, processing extra-large doors and windows requires adjusting equipment pressure parameters, replacing specific tooling, or adapting to the processing requirements of new thermally broken aluminum profiles. However, some manufacturers either shirk responsibility by saying "existing equipment cannot meet these needs" or refuse on the grounds of "additional customization fees required," while competing manufacturers can quickly provide customized solutions to meet the needs of existing customers. The problems are even more pronounced in the after-sales stage: parts prices are inflated; some manufacturers' original parts cost 2-3 times more than generic parts. After calculating the cost, existing customers prefer to replace them with compatible parts. Repair response is slow; some manufacturers require existing customers to send a video of the malfunction before sending a technician, with wait times exceeding 3 days in remote areas. Competitors, on the other hand, promise "response within 24 hours, on-site arrival within 48 hours." Delays in production cause losses for existing customers, naturally leading to them switching to other services.

Furthermore, neglecting customer value causes existing customers to lose loyalty. Many manufacturers focus all their energy on developing new customers, neglecting the follow-up needs of existing customers. For example, if an existing customer needs to purchase two additional machines due to capacity expansion, the original manufacturer never proactively inquires, while competitors proactively offer capacity calculations and adaptation solutions. When repeat customers make purchases, the original manufacturer doesn't offer exclusive discounts, while competitors provide benefits like a 5% discount on the first order and a lifetime 20% discount on spare parts – a difference that alone is enough to entice existing customers. Furthermore, some manufacturers fail to provide technical support to existing customers, such as upgrades and training on equipment operation and maintenance. Existing customers are left to figure out technical problems on their own, while competitors regularly provide on-site technical training to help them optimize production processes and improve profit margins – the difference is obvious.

This breakdown in trust completely undermines the foundation of cooperation. Some manufacturers fail to deliver on their initial service promises: for example, promised "free equipment software upgrades" and "twice-yearly equipment inspections" are simply ignored after cooperation begins. There is insufficient tracking of equipment usage data; manufacturers never proactively analyze equipment failure patterns or production efficiency bottlenecks, leaving existing customers to solve problems independently. When these accumulated grievances reach a critical point, long-term customers will choose to switch to manufacturers that can deliver on their promises and value their products more.

In summary, the essence of frequent order switching by long-term customers is that the original manufacturers have failed to shift from "selling equipment" to "providing services." They have neither kept up with industry technological upgrades nor maintained the long-term needs of their customers, ultimately pushing core resources to competitors. To win back long-term customers, it is necessary to address shortcomings in product iteration, service upgrades, and customer relationship maintenance, rather than simply blaming market competition.
