With increasing customization demands, window and door equipment manufacturers are exploring adaptation paths.

As consumption upgrades and living concepts change, the window and door industry is accelerating its transformation from "standardized supply" to "personalized customization." Consumers are making more specific demands regarding window and door size adaptation, style matching, and functional integration (such as sound insulation, heat preservation, and intelligent control). The diversified requirements of high-end real estate projects and the personalized needs of old house renovations are further driving the customization trend. How to quickly respond to and adapt to these demands has become crucial for window and door equipment manufacturers to seize market share. The following discusses manufacturers' adaptation strategies from four dimensions: product, production, service, and supply chain.

I. Product Side: Modular Design and Technological Innovation – Balancing Customization and Efficiency. Customization is not about "starting from scratch," but rather about meeting personalized needs through modular combinations. Manufacturers can break down windows and doors into standardized modules (such as window frame profiles, glass units, hardware systems, and intelligent components), with each module offering multiple options (such as profile color, glass type, and hardware brand). Customers can achieve customization by combining different modules. This model reduces customization costs and shortens delivery cycles.

Meanwhile, technological innovation is key to meeting high-end customization needs. For example, for smart doors and windows, manufacturers can integrate sensors, automatic opening and closing, and remote control modules to satisfy customers' pursuit of "smart homes"; for environmental protection needs, they can develop green materials such as low-emissivity (Low-E) glass and recycled aluminum profiles to meet customers' demands for sustainable living; and for special scenarios (such as corrosion resistance at seaside locations and thermal insulation in cold regions), they can launch customized material solutions to improve the product's adaptability to different scenarios.

II. Production Side: Flexible Manufacturing and Digital Transformation to Improve Customization Response Speed. Traditional production lines struggle to handle small-batch, multi-variety customization demands, making flexible manufacturing an inevitable choice. Manufacturers can introduce flexible production lines, using programmable logic controllers (PLCs), robotic arms, and other equipment to achieve rapid switching between different product specifications (e.g., adjusting from a 1.5-meter wide window frame to a 2.2-meter wide window frame takes only a few minutes). Meanwhile, the application of digital technologies can further optimize production processes:

- 3D modeling and visualization: Utilizing CAD/CAM software to generate 3D models of doors and windows allows customers to intuitively see the customized effect, reducing communication errors;- Data-driven production: Integrating order information through an ERP system enables automatic production scheduling, avoiding production waste;- Intelligent quality inspection: Employing machine vision technology to inspect the dimensional accuracy and surface quality of customized products ensures consistency.

An industry report shows that manufacturers adopting flexible manufacturing have seen an average 25% reduction in the delivery cycle for customized products and an 18% increase in customer satisfaction.

III. Service Side: Deep Involvement Throughout the Entire Process, Precisely Matching Customer NeedsThe core of customization is "customer-centricity." Manufacturers need to build a comprehensive service system covering the entire process from needs assessment to after-sales service:

- Front-end Assessment: Dispatch a professional team to conduct on-site measurements to understand the customer's apartment layout, usage scenarios (e.g., whether it's near a road requiring sound insulation), and aesthetic preferences, creating a personalized needs list;- Solution Design: Provide customized solutions based on the assessment results, offering suggestions combined with professional knowledge (e.g., recommending triple-glazed windows for customers in northern regions, and Low-E glass for customers in southern regions);- Installation and After-sales Service: The installation accuracy of customized doors and windows directly affects the user experience. Manufacturers need to train professional installation teams to ensure installation meets standards. For after-sales service, establish a rapid response mechanism (e.g., 24-hour on-site repair) to resolve customer issues.

Furthermore, manufacturers can develop online customization platforms, allowing customers to independently select modules, view 3D effects, and track production progress, enhancing customer participation and transparency.

IV. Supply Chain Side: Collaborative Optimization, Ensuring the Supply of Customized MaterialsCustomization places higher demands on the flexibility of the supply chain. Manufacturers need to establish deep partnerships with suppliers:

- Flexible supply agreements: Sign flexible supply contracts with suppliers of profiles, glass, and hardware to support small-batch, multi-variety material needs;- Information sharing: Achieve real-time information exchange with suppliers through an SCM (Supply Chain Management) system to provide early warnings of material shortage risks;- Localized procurement: Select local suppliers for regional customization needs (such as moisture-proof profiles in the south) to shorten logistics cycles.

For example, one manufacturer, by cooperating with a local glass manufacturer, reduced the delivery time for customized glass from 7 days to 3 days, significantly improving customization efficiency.

Conclusion: Under the trend of customization, door and window equipment manufacturers need to move beyond "standardized thinking," focusing on customer needs and achieving a balance between customization and efficiency through product modularization, flexible production, personalized services, and supply chain collaboration. Only by continuously iterating their capabilities can they meet the increasingly diversified demands of customers in the fierce market competition and become industry leaders. In the future, with the in-depth application of technologies such as AI and IoT, customization will further upgrade to "intelligent and scenario-based," and manufacturers need to plan ahead and grasp the trend.
