Door and window companies are struggling: how to break free from homogenization?

An industrial aluminum equipment manufacturer tells you: The popularity of celebrity programs and eye-catching variety shows in 2015 sparked a new wave of celebrity endorsements. In this context, inviting celebrities to endorse products and services was undoubtedly a fast and effective marketing tactic for door and window companies. Many brands spared no expense in hiring celebrities to participate in this fierce competition. However, the actual impact of celebrities on door and window companies' products, market positioning, and the elimination of homogenization is negligible.

Celebrity endorsements are merely a means to an end; substantive communication and word-of-mouth marketing are the true goals. Any marketing and promotion by door and window companies that doesn't prioritize "communication" is inefficient and counterproductive. From a purely communicative perspective, in recent years, with the rise of the "Internet Plus" strategy, social media platforms such as Weibo and WeChat have become new high-value areas for brand marketing.

With limited market demand and a finite pie, whoever seizes the initiative gains a competitive advantage. From this perspective, consumers are the ones who ultimately control the market share. Therefore, businesses must cater to consumer needs, continuously develop new products, and cultivate their own brand appeal to win over the market and consumers. Under market regulation, clients and window and door engineering companies will naturally become the preferred partners for window and door manufacturers.

The door and window industry currently faces severe homogenization. Faced with this predicament, how can these companies develop to overcome their current difficulties? Analyzing the reasons, there are two main factors:

Product quality is the most important factor.

Consumers today no longer have the mindset of simply using anything that works. Without good design and service, consumers are unlikely to pay attention. Just as in stand-up comedy, it's better to hone one's skills and build strength than to dress up in fancy clothes and try to grab headlines. The same applies to door and window companies. Instead of racking your brains for headlines, prove yourself through your products.

For any company, without high-quality products, everything else is just a mirage. Product quality is the most important factor for a company to achieve development and seize market share at any time and in any industry. Without solid product quality, a company's development will be difficult; only advanced product quality can create an advanced door and window company.

Promotions should also be based on strength.

There's a classic saying in the industry: "Doing promotions is suicide, not doing promotions is waiting to die." Currently, many companies are organizing province-wide promotional events, inviting celebrities to endorse and promote their products. However, the real purpose of such large-scale events is to attract customers and build brand awareness, not just to make money. Customers are essential for moving forward; otherwise, it's all just empty talk. Large-scale group-buying events involving CEO signings, celebrity signings, and province-wide promotions are simply price wars to acquire customers—to put it bluntly, it's burning money and a battle of who has the most financial resources.

This approach by window and door companies only leads to vicious competition within the industry. For companies that are not already financially strong, hiring celebrities already consumes a significant amount of working capital. If the celebrities fail to boost sales, it will undoubtedly worsen the already struggling situation.

In short, how can window and door companies overcome homogenization and survive in the face of market competition? The most effective way for window and door companies to cope is to maintain confidence, hone their internal skills, attract talent, improve management, reduce costs, increase efficiency, strengthen product research and development, increase marketing efforts, strengthen brand building, enhance brand competitiveness, and seize the high ground in the market. Only by never slacking off can door and window companies develop better and better.
